DIARY - Updated diary for 2010 now published - see diary page. Ammendment added (18/1) to May committments for those who have printed a copy already.
PROMOTION Congratulations to all swimmers who represented the Club this year in the Pocklington Times league. Having won 3 out of the 4 competitive galas, South Hunsley won the Division 3 and have been promoted. Well done to all.
RIDINGS LEAGUE After listening to both parents, swimmers and parent representitives the Club have been given permission to enter 2 teams in the Ridings League with effect from next year. This will address the issue that some swimmers are not being picked to represent the club however it will mean that your committment is vital to to ensure we present a full squad for each competitive gala. The Club will have teams in the Premier and 3rd divisions next year.
FUN GALA On Friday December 18th instead of the training session we will be holding a fun gala. Amy Hicks will be co-ordinating the events and Seasonal prizes will be awarded to the winning team. Watch the poolside notice board for further info.
FEES - There will be no increase in the Club fees or Junior Development fees for 2010. New enrolement forms for the Club will be available shortly and Junior Development will be starting their enrolements during December.
Diary Change The warm up for the final club gala of the year on 20th December will now be 2pm.
AGM - Sincere apologies to anyone who turned up on Tuesday 24th November for our AGM. This date had previously been changed and will now take place on February 23rd 2010.
LAND TRAINING The introduction of the land training sessions on a Friday night seem to be going down well with the swimmers. Due to limited spaces available participation is based on a rolling 3 week rotation. The trainers from the Sports Centre have assessed our swimmers and have identified the need to improve our lower body strengths. As such individual programmes are being formulated by them based on age, height etc.
TIME TRIALS Watch out for more time trial sessions during the coming year. These will be held more regularly with a view to helping more swimmers achieve Yorkshire qualification times and will also help in team selection for galas.
TEAM GALA / COMPETITIONS Please remember that we ARE a competitive swimming club and do compete with many clubs from our region in the Ridings League, Pocklington Times League and also Friendly Galas for the younger ones. If you are selected to represent the club in any of the teams then this is because of your ability and attitude to training. PLEASE don't let you team mates down by not attending and if you cannot swim please at least let the organisers know early. Those who do not just turn up (or pull out at the last minute) let the whole team (and club) down. So if you are selected, tell your parents as soon as you can and get the ok to play for your team.
SWIMMERS PROPOSALS ....do you have any proposals or ideas about your club? Do you want your voice to be heard? You can talk to your Captains David Philipson or Amy Hicks or alternatively the swimmer representatives, Sophie Adlard or Ryan Krebs. Also you are now able to email them thanks to David who has set up email contact through SHSCswimmersproposals@gmail.com Remember it is your club so if you have something to say.......SAY IT.
CLUB GALA No 5 - 20th December - warm up 2pm

REMINDER TO PARENTS please do not drop off your children and allow them to enter the pool/centre by themselves. There have been a number of occaisions when the pool has been closed due to unforseen circumstances and children are left stranded at the sports centre. It is your responsibility to ensure that the swim session is on.

Swimming Fins............Kick Board / Float.............Pull Buoy
These items can be bought on line from Swim Shop at a reasonable cost and by following our link on the "links" page.

Next Gala ..........entry forms now available on pool side - CLOSING DATE ..
Please remember it is a condition of the Club that you take part in at least 3 of the 5 galas we hold.
CHECK OUT the "club galas" page for details of the events for this gala.
ALL swimmers are encouraged to enter their age group swims (even if it is not the "favourite" stroke) and in some cases have the option to enter the age group above. It is a requirement of the swimming club that swimmers compete in at least 3 out of the 5 club galas each year (preferably all 5). Galas are an integral part of the training process giving swimmers experience of competition. Getting used to the start, starting blocks, finishing correctly and developing race tactics are an essential step to competing away from the club and it also gives the Coaches the chance to identify elements of your swims which need further work.
Gala competition also allows the club to gauge progress and record personal times which is essential when assessing teams and possible entries into other events away from Hunsley.
Please remember........taking part is the first step towards winning it.
Medals will be awarded at the end of each gala however after the presentations, winners will be asked to leave their trophies so that we can have them all engraved at the same time. These will then be passed back at training.
