Latest Update............... 6th June 2009................Latest Update

DIARY CHANGE....Hull & District on July 12th is now at Ennerdale with 1.30 warm up for a 3.00 start.
SWIM 21 We are pleased to announce that the club has recently gained Swim 21 accreditation. Achievement of this has been the result of over 12 months of hard work and special mention must go to Jean Philpison, Tracy Crabb, Jean Hicks and Tracy Vickers. This accreditation is gained through many aspects of the running of the club but essentially shows that the club has high standards of training, a sound attitude to the sport and continually demonstrates a high degree of competitive swimming entries. Well done to all.
TEAM GALA / COMPETITIONS Come on swimmers.. please remember that we ARE a competitive swimming club and do compete with many clubs from our region in the Ridings League, Pocklington Times League and also Friendly Galas for the younger ones. If you are selected to represent the club in any of the teams then this is because of your ability and attitude to training. PLEASE don't let you team mates down by not attending and if you cannot swim please at least let the organisers know early. Those who do not just turn up (or pull out at the last minute) let the whole team (and club) down. So if you are selected, tell your parents as soon as you can and get the ok to play for your team.
SWIM SQUADS After a little more "tweeking" of the squad lanes, swimmer feedback suggests that the new training regime is proving successful. This can of course be backed up by the number of "pb's" we are achieving both in training and in the competitive field. It is pleasing to see success so early after introduction and hopefully with your commitment we will continue to make positive progress.
SWIMMERS PROPOSALS ....do you have any proposals or ideas about your club? Do you want your voice to be heard? You can talk to your Captains David Philipson or Amy Hicks or alternatively the swimmer representatives, Sophie Adlard or Ryan Krebs. Also you are now able to email them thanks to David who has set up email contact through SHSCswimmersproposals@gmail.com Remember it is your club so if you have something to say.......SAY IT.
CLUB GALA No 3 - 5th July....get it in your diary NOW.
Diary 2009 updated diary for 2009 now published. Further events will be added as dates are confirmed.. (see "diary" page)
REMINDER TO PARENTS please do not drop off your children and allow them to enter the pool/centre by themselves. There have been a number of occaisions when the pool has been closed due to unforseen circumstances and children are left stranded at the sports centre. It is your responsibility to ensure that the swim session is on.

EQUIPMENT......new swimmers may not be aware of the equipment that is needed in order to progress with their training. There are obviously many specialist aids which can be used for training purposes however the following items are considered as the minimum requirement.
Swimming Fins............Kick Board / Float.............Pull Buoy
These items can be bought on line from Swim Shop at a reasonable cost and by following our link on the "links" page.

Next Gala 5th July...........entry forms now available on pool side - CLOSING DATE ..
Please remember it is a condition of the Club that you take part in at least 3 of the 5 galas we hold.
CHECK OUT the "club galas" page for details of the events for this gala.
ALL swimmers are encouraged to enter their age group swims (even if it is not the "favourite" stroke) and in some cases have the option to enter the age group above. It is a requirement of the swimming club that swimmers compete in at least 3 out of the 5 club galas each year (preferably all 5). Galas are an integral part of the training process giving swimmers experience of competition. Getting used to the start, starting blocks, finishing correctly and developing race tactics are an essential step to competing away from the club and it also gives the Coaches the chance to identify elements of your swims which need further work.
Gala competition also allows the club to gauge progress and record personal times which is essential when assessing teams and possible entries into other events away from Hunsley.
Please remember........taking part is the first step towards winning it.
Medals will be awarded at the end of each gala however after the presentations, winners will be asked to leave their trophies so that we can have them all engraved at the same time. These will then be passed back at training.

Well done to everyone who competed in the Doncaster Dartes Gala held at Beverley. We came 7th out of the 32 clubs who attended and we had a number of excellent individual results with Emily Vickers coming 2nd out of 41 in the 11/12 years, Ryan Arnott, 1st from 24 (13/14yrs) and Sam Pye 4th from 14 in 15yrs and over. Well doe to all.
Hull & District at Ennerdale was well attended and we achieved a high number of pb's again. It was a long day with some very long races but well done to everyone who attended.
